Stay Organized with an In Out Board
Every company needs to use an in out board. It is essential for keeping track of where employees are at. There are 3 varieties of in out boards to use in today’s office environment. The first is conveniently magnetic. Second is the whiteboard. The last type is electronic. This articles will discuss all three types. The benefits, negatives, and practicality of these items will be discussed in the following.
First, let’s explain what exactly an in out board is. It is a device that is used by companies to keep a running track of where their employees are at all times. Normally it consists of three columns. The first column is a list of names of employees. This one is labeled, “Names. The second column is labeled “in” and has boxes to be checked when the employee is in the office. The box will be empty if the worker isn’t in at that time. The last column is titled “Out,” and the boxes in it will be checked if the employee is not present in the office currently. The box will be empty if the employee is in the office at the time.
As stated previously, there are three types of in out boards used in today’s business world. The first is the magnetic in out board. This variety of board has magnets that are used to check the boxes for in and out. The magnetic in out board is usually fairly inexpensive and very commonly used throughout offices worldwide. The main negative with this kind is that the magnets can be lost, necessitating the purchase of replacements.
Following this type is the whiteboard. With this type the in and out boxes will be checked with a regular dry erase marker. Like the magnetic style, it is also pretty inexpensive and used frequently in offices all over the world. The biggest problem with this type is the necessity to replace the whiteboard markers periodically. They also need to be cleaned every time the status of an employee is changed form in to out or vice versa, which some people find to be a bit of a hassle.
Lastly, there is the electronic kind. This is a computer database that replaces the physical boards of the other two varieties. This board is the most expensive of the three, but it makes up for its expense with its ease of use. Employees can just swipe a magnetic card when they go in the building or leave it. Every time they do so, their status will automatically be updated in a computer database. This database can be followed online and around the world, making it the most accessible of the three types of boards.
Some people don’t use the magnetic cards for their electronic boards. Instead of that, they have the electronic board update by computer. Employees manually sign in and out with their computer, or the board can even synch up with their computer so that if their computer is signed in, so are they. Conversely, every time an employee signs off their computer, their status will be moved to the out position on the board.
That’s the quick summary of the three types of in out boards and their operation. The magnetic and whiteboard types are inexpensive and easy to use. The electronic is of course more expensive, but it is worth it with the extra power and functionality.
