Are You Enjoying I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here This Series?

November 29th, 2009

We are now well into week 2 of ‘I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here’.

To date I don’t think there have been many highlights. Entertainment wise, the fact that Katie Price left early is certainly the highlight of the show!

Katie is such a weird woman. You would have thought she had experienced everything in the Jungle the first time, why put yourself in for more misery?   Most of us just want to get on with our lives and enjoy time with our children.   She doesn’t need the money, so why bother?

I will admit that I hadn’t heard of some of the stars of this series.

Justin and Colin are certainly new to me so I decided to do a little research into what they get upto for their day jobs. It turns out they have been on the television for a while, starring in various ‘interior design’ programmes. Their style is unknown to me.   Are they similar to Lawrence Llewellyn Bowen?  He wouldn’t be out of place putting some modular seating into one of his revamped rooms.  Personally I think he takes his designs too far and simple lounge chairs would be amply sufficient.

Even though Colin and Justin seem nice enough chaps, they just don’t float my boat.

Without doubt the best looking bloke in the Jungle this year is Gino D’Acampo. He is super gorgeous, can cook up a meal or two and is wonderfully sexy. Could a woman really ask for any more than this. Oh and don’t forget his Italian accent is super sexy and on top of all this, he has a great sense of humour.

I didn’t know that he had been a guest on quite so many television shows.   I wish now that I had discovered him earlier.   Apparently he has appeared on the Saturday Kitchen show.   Unfortunately I cannot watch this programme, not because of the presenters, but because of the studio furniture.   It looks like they have a lot of cheesy café furniture in the studio and I can’t stand it. Maybe when everybody has returned from their stint in the Jungle, Colin and Justin could be called in for a makeover!!

How Messy Does Your Office Christmas Do Get?

November 29th, 2009

With the imminent arrival of the staff Christmas do, it is vitally important to make sure the right place is booked for the staff.

In my experience, these office parties can get really out of hand and with me in particular, very messy.

One very memorable office do, I remember I didn’t even make it to the restaurant.  My friend and I had decided to have a few drinks before we ventured out to the restaurant. It was with regret that I actually drank so much I was physically sick and couldn’t even stand up, let alone make my way to the restaurant.

It always seems such a great idea at the time, but as is normally the case, the more I drink, the more relaxed I get and eventually I end up a right mess.

For once, this year I am determined not to make a complete idiot of myself. It would be nice to remain fairly sober (not a chance).

However, if I should have too much to drink (foregone conclusion) there will hopefully be some decent bar furniture I can prop myself up against at the local pub.   I know there won’t be a problem with the restaurant furniture, but you know what these pubs can sometimes be like.   They are all modern and futuristic with no seating areas.     Whatever happened to the cosy snugs of olden days?

I am sure that once our meal has ended my work colleagues will be somehow getting me out of the restaurant.   I will hopefully still be in one piece and able to at least stagger up to the nightclub.  Once in the club, I know I will be okay because there is loads of funky club furniture around that I can collapse onto.

I am hoping not to make an idiot of myself and hopefully instead will be dancing the night away.   Mind you, if I didn’t make a fool of myself, what would everybody have to talk about the next day??

Key reasons why some palm trees don’t live in milder weather

November 29th, 2009

Like most trees, palm trees basically survive better in certain kinds of weather.  Since palm trees are originally from tropical type of climates they usually thrive in those climates.  But if you acclimate a palm tree to a milder weather it can survive. We are going to look at a couple of palm trees that can be acclimated to a milder temperature.

The first type of palm tree we are going to look at are the foxtail palm tree. These palm trees generally were thought to not be able to live in milder weather. They were actually believed that they could only survive in a humid weather. But some growers who got them acclimated to milder temperatures were actually able to get them to survive.  Because of that many people are getting introduced to this type of palm tree. They are a rare palm that has been gaining popularity dramatically.

Another type of palm that was thought not to be able to survive in milder temperatures are the coconut palm. But just like the foxtail palms some growers were eventually able to successfully grow them.  Because the more famous coconut palms that do produce coconut were generally only able to survive in the tropics. But they have been thriving once they were able to get them acclimated. So you are beginning to see many gardens and homes having these palm trees in their yard.

Of course with any palm trees for sale the key is making sure the palm tree can survive. How you actually do that is to make sure that they were acclimated to your weather climate. But generally if you just bought it locally then it will be used definitely to your type of weather. If this is the case you will absolutely get to experience many rare palms not seen before.

So there you have the major reason that palm trees do not survive sometimes. The key is simply making sure that they are acclimated to your weather and they will definitely do great.

The Secrets To Making Your Home Based Business A Success

November 29th, 2009

You have decided to make the huge step of working from home. The concept of working home is an excellent one and it can bring a person many benefits and freedoms. There are however a number of down sides to being your own boss and of running a home based business - that is if you let them be downsides. Within this article I will be providing tips and advice about how to make a success of working from home.

From my own personal experience of running a stammering cure based business, and assisting a group of cost reduction specialists who enable people to have lower business overheads, from the comfort of my own home I have to say that “discipline” is a must. It is far too easy to become lazy when you work from home; from spending an extra hour in bed to having too many games of golf. What one should do is ensure that they are working enough hours to make their home based enterprise work.

Variety is the spice of life and this is just one of the ways that I have enabled my home based business to become a success. I run speech courses for people who have a stutter and one of the best investments I ever made was contracting a DVD authoring company to produce a seventy minute film of the back bone of the courses. This self-help option was then added as an alternative to the one-to-one speech therapy course.

Many of these work from home business are now based online and let us clear one myth up straight away - there are not many online money making schemes that work on the internet despite what you may have read. Just as in any other business one is required to work extremely hard to make it viable and to make it a success.

Promoting the online or working from home business is an essential element to whether it will be a success or not. The more people who become aware of your products or the services the more sales you are likely to receive. It should go without saying that one needs to make a decent return on any monies that they spend on advertising.

I hope the above enables the readers of this article to make a success of working from home.

The Benefits Of Hiring A Cost Cutting Expert

November 29th, 2009

The credit crisis is starting to really take hold and company profits are starting to fall. The time may well have arrived when we start to think seriously about hiring a cost reduction consultant.

So where are the potential cost cutting areas in a business? Well this differs for each and every business however there are certain general business costs which can be looked at for the majority of businesses.

To start with there are potential telecom cost reductions. This includes obtaining cheaper business telephone calls, lower mobile phone bills, cheaper BT line rental and cheap calls in general.

The business cost reduction experts are likely to be able to advise you on the potential savings that your business could make and this does not mean that you necessarily have to change the business telephone number.

As well as lower telecoms costs there are also lower charges to be had within the utilities, for example lower electricity costs. Then there is attempting to save money on the business broadband, the internet server costs, the printing and stationary costs as well as advertising costs.

These are just a few of many many changes that can be made which could ultimately enable your business to survive in this tough recession.

I run a stuttering therapy business and I have managed to save some serious cash by appointing a cost reduction expert.

In fact I know of many small businesses that have also managed to make some big savings by obtaining cheaper utility services such as cheaper calls to mobile phones such as one that offers training for foster carers.

I would recommend other people to also attempt to cut costs in this way, it has certainly proved to be of benefit to me and my business. I have to say that the recession would have been so much harder to cope with had I not managed to find these savings in my overall business costs. The overheads do not look so daunting these days.

Solar Charge Controllers

November 29th, 2009

Virtually any solar power system that involves the use of batteries requires a solar charge controller. The solar charge controller works to control the power moving from the solar panels to the batteries. If overcharged, the life of a battery is reduced, and a proper charge controller will prevent this from happening. You can visit solar power battery if you are interested in learning more about solar batteries.

Although there are a number of different varieties of charge controllers, the basic function they have in common is to halt the charging process once the voltage in a battery has reached a certain level. In older charge controllers, this was done through the use of a mechanical relay.

More recent charge controllers use pulse width modulation (PWM). This is a process in which, as the battery starts to reach a fully charged state, the amount of power being supplied to it gradually decreases. PWM is more efficient, as it charges the batteries more completely, in addition to reducing stress on them. It’s also possible to use a PWM charge controller to keep batteries “floating,” or in a completely charged state, for as long as you need. As they don’t rely on mechanical connections, PWM chargers also tend to be more reliable.

The latest development in solar charge controllers is maximum power point tracking, or MPPT. MPPT controllers convert excess voltage into amperage. This is handy in a couple of ways.

These benefits are valid for any solar power system, no matter what their voltage. Solar panels can often provide much more voltage than the batteries require. By converting the excess voltage into amps, MPPT charge controllers reduce the time required to completely charge the batteries, while maintaining an optimal voltage level. This way, the solar power system as a whole maintains the highest possible level of efficiency.

An MPPT charge controller will also largely eliminate the amount of power loss within a solar power system. All electricity in a home system moves from device to device along wires, and a certain amount of power is lost during this process. Higher voltage electricity suffers from less loss. The power used by a PWM charge controller in a system with 12v batteries is usually around 18v. An MPPT controller can use the highest voltage of any type of charge controller currently available. This means that MPPT controllers experience less loss.

MPPT charge controllers are usually more expensive than older ones, but the improvement in performance is significant. It’s highly recommended that, if you can afford it, you choose an MPPT charge controller. Preventing reverse-current flow is another ability which some modern charge controllers have. Solar panels will stop generating electricity when they are no longer in contact with sunlight, and the batteries can actually start transferring electricity back to them at these times. This power loss can certainly be discouraging. When the solar panels stop providing electricity, the charge controller will open the circuit, preventing the batteries from sending any back to them.

For individuals who are interested in reducing costs and eliminating emissions and reliance on foreign oil, 12 volt solar battery chargers are a surprisingly easy-to-build and versatile choice. You can read 12 volt solar charger if you need to learn more about the 12 volt solar charger.

Can you build a solar panel for under 0? If you want to know the answer, take a look at this guide Homemade Energy Review. In this guide, you will get specific instructions on what is best to build based on the size of your house and your location. You will also get step-by-step diagrams on how to build your own solar power system.

What are Solar Micro Inverters?

November 29th, 2009

A solar power system for your home is a fantastic option if you’d like to cut or even eliminate your monthly electricity bill. The most recent solar power systems are exceptionally affordable, very efficient, and easy to install. Recently, something called a micro inverter has been added to solar panels, and this may prove to be one of the most important advancements of all. There are various types of solar inverters. Check out Solar Power Inverter for further information about solar power inverters.

For the most part, solar systems have the same basic configuration. The solar panels are placed in the spot where they’ll receive as much sunlight exposure as possible, which is normally the roof of the home. Solar panels produce DC electricity when sunlight hits them.

Once it’s been generated, the DC electricity goes to an inverter, which is usually located near the home’s electrical panel. Appliances in the home use AC electricity, and the inverter converts the DC electricity to AC for this purpose.

Previous solar power systems had long wires moving the power from the panels to the inverter, and this would result in a fair amount of power loss. Low voltage DC electricity is especially vulnerable to power loss. Before, systems would be made with more power capacity in order to compensate for the loss.

The answer to the problem of power loss is now here, in the form of solar micro inverters. Now that solar panels can come equipped with their own individual micro inverters, the conversion can be performed on the spot, eliminating most of the loss. This means you no longer need an oversized solar power system. Once the electricity has been converted to AC, it won’t lose as much power as it travels along the wires. This also makes expanding your system over time easier, as you can simply add panels at your own pace, without having to worry about whether your inverter can handle it. Despite the slightly greater up-front cost, these improved solar panels will allow you to save even more money in the long run, thanks to their superior efficiency.

Alomost any solar power system that utilizes batteries needs a solar charge controller. The solar charge controller works to regulate the power moving from the solar panels to the batteries. If you need information about solar charge controllers, visit Solar Charge Controller.

Solar Cell Efficiency

November 29th, 2009

The performance of solar cells has improved greatly since the first modern silicon solar cell was introduced. Bell Labs demostrated the first silicon solar cell on April 25, 1954. This solar cell was able to convert around 6% of the solar energy it experienced to electricity.

This was a significant improvement over the selenium solar cell, which had been the standard before the invention of the silicon solar cell. The efficiency rating for selenium solar cells was only about 0.5%.

Solar cell research since that time has focused on both increasing efficiency and reducing manufacturing costs. It’s been proven possible, using rare materials, to build cells with up to 40% efficiency. These materials add substantially to the manufacturing cost of cells as well, though; these high-efficiency cells can cost over 100 times more than standard 8% efficient cells to produce. In order to encourage the use of solar power, decreasing production cost is perhaps an even more important objective than improving efficiency.

The sun provides about 1,000 watts of power per square meter under ideal conditions. A solar cell’s advertised output is based on this figure. Of course, there are a number of factors that can affect the intensity of sunlight, such as weather, elevation, pollution, and dust. Some events, like volcanic eruptions, can even reduce sunlight on a worldwide scale for long periods of time. Low elevation also has a detrimental effect on solar cell efficiency. The thinner air present at higher elevation means that the sunlight is more intense.

At about 14-19% efficiency, multicrystalline solar cells are the most efficient cells currently available. However, as mature technology, this kind of cell is thought to be near its maximum in terms of output capability. Much of the current research being done involves amorphous silicon cells, which currently operate at about 8% efficiency.

Assuming there aren’t any massive gains in solar cell efficiency in the short term, what would it take to replace all fossil fuel-based power production in the US with solar power? To supply all of the electricity currently produced in the US, it would take a little more than 10,000 square miles of solar panels. There is much more suitable land than that presently unused.

Solar power also requires power storage in order to work in a practical way, as a source of power that can be used at night is also necessary. For this purpose, batteries are the most popular power storage method, usually being used in banks either in homes or near them. Batteries may also be used to offset increased demand during hot days and so on.

Over the last 60 years, solar cell efficiency has increased dramatically, from 0.5% to as high as 40%. They are also becoming more affordable, particularly in the last few years.

If you want to install your own solar power system, you must think about the kind of roof panel that you are going to utilize. More information about roof solar panels is available at Roof Solar Panels.
